Mañjishthā takes its name from madder root, the source of the wine-deep red long used to dye silk in Banaras. A colour with weight — closer to dusk than to red.
Woven in pure khaddi chiffon, this Banarasi saree carries kadhua work throughout — bootas set across the full length using the hand-manipulated weft technique kadhua is known for, rather than a repeating machine pattern. The result is a texture that shifts slightly from motif to motif, the mark of handwork.
